By: ConnorTheVGFan78 ~ View Artworks Artist's Comments: Breezewood, Pennsylvania is an anomaly of a town. It only exists and continues to thrive because of an antiquated US traffic law which prohibited Freeways from directly connecting to Toll Roads. Because of this law, traffic traveling west-bound on Interstate 70 has to briefly wait at a traffic light, before having to go on a series of unrelated roads just to rejoin Interstate 70 West, which starts running concurrently with Interstate 76 West (aka. The Pennsylvania Turnpike, a Toll Road). Those "unrelated roads" go through Breezewood, a town that most consider to be a big tourist trap filled with gas stations, gift shops, restaurants, and hotels, all of which exist because the awkward and confusing Breezewood "interchange" exists. Anyways, here's a photo of an old gas pump I found on display at the Gateway Travel Plaza, which is located in Breezewood. Chances are, it's been here longer than the confusing interchange this town's known for. |
